interview with Joshua Lomax

Have any of you played in other bands? Yeah, I played guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums in other bands.
How is it that you started playing music? When i was 8 i started playing guitar and it all fell into place after that. Hooked up with some friends from school and we ended up creating some really cool stuff.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? My name is Joshua. I am 32. And i play all instruments.
Have you had other previous members? No. I am such a perfectionist than I can't find the right person to fill the spots.
Did you make music even when you were young? All the time. My dad taught me "Smoke on the water" and i played it so much told me to start learning new songs.
Where are you from? Lexington, North Carolina, USA
What year did the band form? 2004
What's your style of genre? Industrial / Noise / Metal
What inspires you? Everything. Mostly dark stuff. I usually write when I am angry.
How often and where do you reherse? I try to practice everyday. I have a studio in my house.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Ha! I dont write shitty music anymore. I listen to  a lot of stuff i wrote when i was younger and think " what the fuck was i thinking"
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? I do photography, artwork, make video games, and other stuff.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Not at this time. It would take a lot to try and perform all this by myself.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Sure, anything to get the music out to potential fans.
What made you decide to make this music? I have always loved making music. It just came Naturally.
What are your songs about? Sex, death, love and hate.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? It depends on the songs. Sometimes i have to write the lyrics around the song and vice versa.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? In my living room mostly.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Its weird. I remember having to go to a record store to get music. But as an artist i dont see making money off of music, if they want my music they can download it. You cant stop them so you might as well embrace it.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? They push out candy coated shit expecting people to gobble it up.
What do you think of my work? Loving it so far!

Do you have any role models or idols? I love Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.
Why do you think that they exist? To influence people to follow their own path.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Older bands for sure. I havent heard anything good since about 1994.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Writers block!
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Stop sucking so much!
How do you get psyched for a gig? Listening to some bad ass music.
