interview with Dunkel
Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, the vocalist used to be play in a melodic metal band called “Ciclotimia” and the bass player used to be in a rock band called “Xolo”
How is it that you started playing music? Because we listen a good metal bands like “Death, Behemoth, Sodom, and Rammstein” their music inspired us to make our music.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Hugo Drumms 26 years old, Karlo Bass 20 years old, Christopher Guitar 20 years old, Germán vocals, guitar and keyboard 23 years old.
Have you had other previous members? Yes we had 2 previous bass players and 2 previous keyboard players.
Where are you from? We are from Toluca, México.
What year did the band form? Dunkel were formed In May of 2016.
What's your style of genre? Dunkel´s music its kind of Industrial metal with influences of thrash metal, melodic metal and death metal.
What inspires you? The good music and the reality of our country (politics and society problems)
How often and where do you reherse? We rehearse one day in the week in the bass player house, he has a rehearsing room.
How have you developed since you started with the music? We had a good evolution, if you check the videos in Facebook of the first rehearsals when we play Rammstein covers, you will notice it.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes, the vocalist studies communication in a college and the other band members have different Jobs.
What made you decide to make this music? The local bands in our city, they make a very good music!
What are your songs about? Our songs talk about political problems, social problems that occur in our country and social problems that occur around all the world.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Germán does the lyrics and he is the main composer.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? I start first with the guitar riffs then i write some lyrics.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Yes, I compose in my room after reading a book or I saw a documentary about politics or pollution
Have you done any covers live? Yes, when we formed Dunkel we were play some Rammstein songs like: Links 234, Du hast, Sonne, Haifisch, Du riechst so gut, Pussy, Buck dich and Te quiero puta!
What language do you sing in? In spanish, at first i used to be sing in German
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? That depends of the site, but if we do not bring followers people come to listen to our music, we call the atention to much.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Our music likes to all kinds of people.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We vary the songs.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We play in different places of our city
What was your first gig like? It was fantastic! We had a good response from the public, it was at january 27 of 2017 in Kiss lounge bar.
What was your latest gig? It was the last Saturday in a bands war.
Where have you played live this year? We have played in a lot of sites this year.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We have the plan to play in diferent states of our country like: Guadalajara, Puebla, Nuevo León, Veracruz and Tlaxcala.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We have not merchandise yet, but it be in process.
Where can people buy your merchandise? In our Social networks.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? We think that is a consequence of the digital era, now the people can download books, movies, series and a lot of things thanks to the internet. The knowledge is now on the internet.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? This affects the big companies and at a certain point the bands because the bands can make money playing concerts, but piracy directly affects the big music companies
What do you think of my work? It´s so cool! Interviewing bands from other countries to let them know in your country is very cool, thank you very much!

Do you have any role models or idols? Yes, Every member had an idol, but the maining influences are our favorite bands.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? We have inspiration from older bands and new bands
What have been your biggest obstacles? The main and most important is the lack of support for the genre of metal by the music scene in our country.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Keep going, don´t leave your dreams!
How do you get psyched for a gig? Drinking a drink of Beer
Do you have any new material? Yes, we just recorder our first álbum!
