interview with Elvenking

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, a lot of us have played or still play with other bands. Personally, I was always 100% concentrated in Elvenking.

How is it that you started playing music? For the passion of metal music.

Did you make music even when you were young? Sure, the band was formed in 1997.

Where are you from? Italy.

What year did the band form? 1997

What's your style of genre? Pagan Metal can be an idea.

How have you developed since you started with the music? A lot. Just listen to our discography.

What made you decide to make this music? The need to express ourselves and our inner ideas and feelings.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Mainly myself and singer Damna.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Always with the music, with some very rare exceptions.

Have you done any covers live? Yes, especially in the early years.

What language do you sing in? English of course.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? From 12 to 60.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? It always a good thing to vary the setlist, but some songs need to be played.

What was your first gig like? A shit, obviously! 

What was your latest gig? We are just back from a Spanish tour.

Have you had to cancel a gig? Very rarely, but unfortunately happened.

Where have you played live this year? Israel, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, England, Italy of course, etc.

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We will be in a European tour in April, so around Europe for sure. The Japan, Sweden, etc.

Where can people buy your merchandise? At the live shows and in our websites.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It was and it is the end of music.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? A lot. There is no future in the music business. A lot of bands will die soon, and in the future there will be no bands and music, as we know it today.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Older bands for sure!

What have been your biggest obstacles? Stupid people.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Be yourself, concentrate on the quality on the music and not in spending money to buy views in YouTube, Facebook etc, Buy On tours etc.

Do you have any new material? Yes, our new album will be released in 2019.
