How is it that you started playing music? We all started at a young age. Making music was our passion from the start. Listening to music is great... making your own is even better.

What are your names? Who plays what? Age?

Craig Drewyor(Dante) 31 yrs old -vocals

Phillip Love (Philthy) 26y.o. -Guitar

Spencer Kirtley (Grim) 26y.o. -Bass

Colin McKernin (Lava) 26y.o. -Drums

Have you had other previous members? Unworthy started with a different vocalist who quit after the first month of being in the band.

Did you make music when you were young? We all started writing our own music around the time we were in high school.

Where are you from?  We are all based out of Kalamazoo/Battlecreek Michigan.

What year did the band form? Our first practice was September 1st 2017. We went Public on Facebook on February 14th 2018.

What genre of music do you play? it is a cross of nu metal, and metal core with our own twist.

What inspires you? Music (especially metal) has gotten each of us through some tough periods in our lives. When you feel like you have no one to turn to, music is an escape. We're trying to establish our own following of misfits and angry individuals who feel misunderstood. There is a lot of passion behind our music, and we believe that our fans can feel that.

How often/where do you rehearse? We practice once per week at the drummers house.

How have you developed since you started with the music? We have grown so much as a band and as individuals since we started. Pushing our skills to constantly grow and develop our sound. We all work extremely well together.

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? We all have our day jobs to pay the bills, but the band holds that special place in our hearts.

Are you looking for a booking agency? What are your thoughts on that? We handle all of the booking outselves at this time. Having an agent/manager will come in due time, but there is no rush.

Are you looking for a label? We currently have enough material to record our first full length album. Being signed to a label will be the next big step for us, but again, there is no rush at this time. It will happen when the time is right, and we will find someone who shares the same goals that we do.

What made you decide to make this music? It wasn't so much of a choice, as much as letting the music flow organically from within. We wouldn't be what we are if we went for any other sound. This is the sound that lives inside of us. That's how you get pure, raw emotion.

What are your songs about? We have a range of meanings with our songs. From struggling with depression and addiction, to facing our inner demons, or just "letting it all out".. the kind of music that makes you want to let go of all of your stress from the day and let the music take you on a journey.

Who does the composing?

Who writes the lyrics

The majority of our songs have started with a rough draft guitar recording with a scratch drum part. The rest of the guys add their "special sauce" to take the song to the next level.

CJ (vocalist) writes all the lyrics, but we are always open to take suggestions from all members.

Do you start with music or lyrics? Music always comes first. We have an arsenal of lyrics, so when we have a new song in progress, we let the feel of the song decide what it is going to be about.

Do you compose in a certain environment? Nothing specific. We work well together under any circumstances. On an individual level, it's all about being comfortable and thinking about how to best convey certain messages from a musical standpoint.

Have you ever done any covers live? No. we have discussed the idea of performing a cover, but that won't happen until we have more of a following. Original music is what we want to be known for.

What language do you sing in? All songs are English

What are the least/most people to attend one of your gigs? least- 20 most- 120. We are working on booking larger events.

What is the age range of the audience? 18-35

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We change the set list depending on how long of a set we have, and what the other bands sound like (heavier set or softer set) whatever fits the mood.

What was your first gig like? Amazing... to put it simply. We were dying to get on stage, so we weren't even nervous. We were all so anxious to see how people would react, and we ended up getting raving reviews. Couldn't have asked for a better debut show.

What was your latest gig like? We participated in a Battle of the Bands in Battlecreek. It was an honor to be a part of such an amazing event! We had the crowd roaring and we put on one of our best performances. We may not have won the competition, but the Love we got from the crowd was a personal win for us.

Have you had to cancel a gig? No. We have pulled out of a line up months in advance, but we won't book a show unless we are absolutely sure we will be able to attend, and that it is in our best interest.

Where have you played live this year? Kalamazoo, Battlecreek, Midland, Warren. (All cities in Michigan)

Where do you plan to play this coming year? The sky is the limit. We are currently working on getting the necessary equipment to be able to travel farther. We figure the more you branch out, the more people you will reach.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale?  We had merch by our second or third show. We have one shirt design, and one sticker design. We have some designs that we are eager to get printed to add to our options.

Where can people buy your merchandise? The best option is to see us live and visit our merch booth, but people can also reach out to us through Facebook and order shirts/stickers with PayPal. We will ship anywhere.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying albums these days? It would be foolish to try to fight the new trend. It is easier and more accessible to download music. If people want to listen to our music, it doesn't matter how they get it as long as they share with their friends and turn up the volume!

How do you think the music industry has changed because of this? There is definitely much more of an online presence of people pushing their music. Which is completely fine! Sharing music is like showing off pictures of your kids... except now instead of pulling out your wallet and flipping through physical photos, it's all online.

What do you think of my work? It is crucial to any band, big or small. Fans won't come up to you for an interview, so this is an excellent way to show people how we think and feel. It gets the conversations started and helps fans relate to the musicians they enjoy.

How do you think or know that this interview will help you in the music business? There is no guarantee. But if even ONE person reads this and decides "yeah these guys seem pretty cool" then we all win. We don't want the following without being close to our fans. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. We love and appreciate every one of them.

Do you have any roll models or idols? No one in particular. This is about creating our own sound. We each have our own "favorite band/artist" but when it comes down to writing music, we look within ourselves.

Why do you think they exist? The passion for writing/making music comes from first hearing someone who did something vocally or instrumentally that made you say "I'm going to do that!" We have all invested countless hours, blood, sweat, and tears to get to where we are today. Our dream is to inspire the next generation of musicians.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands or bands that are more active today? You can find inspiration from any band, from any genre or time period. Having an open mind about all music is the key to developing your own genuine sound.

What has been your biggest obstacle? Finding more gigs. We have an unquenchable desire to perform live. It is the highlight of our existence! Nothing compares to that rush.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Exhaust all of your resources, online or otherwise. If you have questions, there are hundreds of online chats or forums from people who have been in the industry for ages. Stay true to your sound. Respect everyone in the industry no matter what. You never know who will help you get to that next level in your career. And most importantly... treat your band/music like a business. Don't jump too soon at the first opportunity that comes knocking. If you're doing what you love, then carrying yourself in a professional manor will take you much further.

How do you get psyched for a gig? That's the easiest part! Socializing with fans and having a couple drinks to settle the nerves seems to work for us. We want to be up close and personal with everyone who took time out of their day to show up.

Do you have any new material? We ALWAYS have new material on the back burner. As the guitarist, I'd be failing my band mates if I didn't have a new project to work on as soon as we finish the previous one. Having projects lined up like that gives us the ability to direct our sound and have options for upcoming shows. The most exciting part is playing a new song to see how the crowd reacts.

What are your websites? We to not have a website at this time, but we are active on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. (Links below)

How can people reach you? Facebook is currently the best method of contact, But we also have a band email.

What are your plans for the future? Priority number one right now is to get into a studio to record our first album. Other than that we want to expand our merchandise and book our first tour.
