interview with The Midnight Sinners Band

What are your names? / Who plays what? Our line up is formed by Tom Mic (Guitar, Vocals), Tata Theo (Vocals), Dimitris Chrysos (Guitar, Vocals), Giorgos Papakostas (Keyboards), Manos K (Bass Guitar) and Argyris Aliprantis (Drums)
Have you had other previous members? No, we are still the same since we’ve started
Did you make music even when you were young? Yes, although that some of us are still too young
Where are you from? Athens, Greece
What year did the band form? We are almost 2 years old
What's your style of genre? The music style of the band fuses many elements, from primarily old Blues and Garage Rock, to early Rock and Roll. We define it as Garage Blues n Roll
What inspires you? The magic ability of making music. While you’re playing, you forget all your worries
How often and where do you rehearse? Usually two times per week
How have you developed since you started with the music? The most important when you are making music is to develop a chemistry between the members of the band. We try to keep this perfect match
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes, but even we all have different lives outside the band, the passion for music keep us together
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We had never thought about it.  Maybe in the in the future we’ll need one.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? These last few months we are in process of making our own stuff, so yes, I suppose we’ll have to find a label to publish it
What made you decide to make this music? Each member has different rock influences, we put them in a weird voodoo mixer and we have this unique music rock style
What are your songs about? All the lyrics are written about all the strong emotions on our daily basis. Pain, love, happiness, feelings and frustrations that we all have gone through
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Manos K writes the lyrics, then comes a composing partnership between Tom Mic and Dimitris Chrysos, with some nice riffs, and by the time we get to the studio all the members have already put their own playing to the song.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Most of the bands start with the instrumental part. We just do the opposite, because we think that the texture of the lyrics inspires a good melody, rough or sweet
Do you compose in a certain environment? Usually in our houses, and places that influence our mood for making music.
Have you done any covers live? Yes, we’ve started as a cover band, we still are in a way, at least until we publish our own songs. Cover songs are very important for a new band to introduce itself to the audience.
What language do you sing in? English
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Every age has the right to Rock n Roll
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We try to change our setlist very often, although we have some main tracks that we like to play. We are planning to put some of our unreleased songs
Do you have a regular place you play live often? No, there a lot of nice places in our city to play music
What was your first gig like? Our first live appearance was at Lazy Club, we had a great time.
What was your latest gig? Our last gig was a few months ago at Architecture Rock Café. We loved it.
Have you had to cancel a gig? No, and we hope we won’t have to.
Where do you plan to gig the coming year? As we mentioned before we are in process of making our own music, so we get a little time off gigs right now, but we intend to do it when we are ready to put at least 3-4 of our songs to the next setlist
Where can people buy your merchandiseWe don’t have any merchandise for sale yet, but we are planning to when our first album will be released. Maybe with some t-shirts with our band logo.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Music has become more accessible and give the opportunity to the listener to filter good music. If its’s worth, he will come back to you and show his respect, on your next live performance or even buying some merchandise. For the artist, gives the opportunity to get noticed and people to find his work more easily. Sure, there are also bad side effects, such as the financial point of view.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? Music industry usually goes with the flow and try to be one step ahead of the evolution.
Honestly, we only care for people enjoying music.
What do you think of my work?  When you reached us for an interview, we looked at your work and we have a great appreciation and respect for what you do, especially for the new bands like us.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Anything that supports and promotes our music is nice and very welcome. Thanks again for giving us this opportunity
Do you have any role models or idols? The bands and the artists we love all these years
Why do you think that they exist? To inspire and give us the motivation to continue their legacy
What have been your biggest obstacles? Our relationship with music stays unselfish and we want to keep it that way. Maybe later when we’ll get involved with all this music industry we might expect to find some difficulties to promote our music because of external interferences
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Keep working and Rock n Roll will reward you
How do you get psyched for a gig? Sometimes with a couple of beers, sometimes just when we get on the stage.
Do you have any new material? Yes, we have a lot of new material in progress
