interview with Last Days of Humanity

Have any of you played in other bands? Of the curent line up bas and paul are still playeing in FUBAR as well, i never played in other bands.

How is it that you started playing music? We wanted to start a Noise/grindcore band in 1989. Our main invlueences were 7 minutes of nausea, anal cunt, agathocles, fear of god, sore throat, early napalm death.

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Todays line up is Paul Niessen drum (somewere in his 40’s) Bas van Geffen plays Gitaar (also 40 something) and me Hans Smits vocals 49

Have you had other previous members?

Yes we have lots of them:

Rogier Kuzee Marc Palmen William Van De Ven Anne Van De Burgt Bart Bouwmans Bas Van Geffen Boris Cornelissen Dennis Dekkers Erwin De Groot Erwin De Wit Glenn Jagers Mark Snijders

Marty Van Sinten Rutger Noij

Did you make music even when you were young? I started Last days Of Humanity together with Erwin de Wit when i was 19 or 20 years old

Where are you from? I am living in a tiny village called Volkel, Bas lives in Uden and Paul lives in Weert. (all in the south of the netherlands)

What year did the band form? We formed in 1989

What's your style of genre? We play goregrind, but not the up tempo one like Gutalax, but goregrind with blastbeats

What inspires you? Horror and splatter movies but also the cruel reality of everyday life

How often and where do you reherse? We mostly rehearse once a week in Uden.

How have you developed since you started with the music? Well not that much, we moved from chaotic noise to more grindcore / goregrind but after that we basicaly stopped evolving and are still doing the same as 20 years ago

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? I like cars, the faster the better, mostly BMW’s

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? No at this time we are a studioband only so we dont need any bookings agency, but if we ever would need one we go to good frien of ours, the run a agency called Doomstar

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We now are working on a new album, we enter the studio in november. When recordings are ready we go an seek a label. We already have some offers of labels but we first want to record.

What made you decide to make this music? Mmm…..dont realy know. I just wanted to be on stage and play gigs.

What are your songs about? About nothing, we dont have lyrics, i fin dit hard enough to come up with some titels. Our titels are patholigical ones, we are not politicical orientated

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Composing riffs is done by Bas, and then the 3 of us try to make i tinto a song. No lyrics

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music, no lyrics

Do you compose in a certain inviroment? No just in our rehearselroom

Have you done any covers live? Nope

What language do you sing in? In none, just grauwels like early Obituary

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Ppfff, from like 5 to a 1000 or so.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? Dont know, over 25 i think

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We used to do so, but our last gig is already like 9 years ago. Lack of time to do gigs and tours.

What was your first gig like? Chaotic

What was your latest gig? My last gig (not the last gig of last days) was in Eindhoven for about 300 people, that was awesome, the crowd whent wild, we had a good sound, was relay cool

Have you had to cancel a gig? That has happend yes.

Where have you played live this year? Didn’t play

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? nowere

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We had merch early on, demos, shirts, cd’s, caps, lp’s, etc, etc the useual bend merch like all bands

Where can people buy your merchandise? Check our facebook page, we always licence our merch to other labels because we are to lazy to do that ourselfs. So people can only order at those labels and not directly by us.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? We dont care, for u sits important to get our music at the people, how doesn’t matter.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? For labels its harder to stay alive because they sell not as much cd’s as they used tob e, the make more money from selling merch like shirts and stuff.

What do you think of my work? Tob e honest i dont know any of your worl

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Everything helps, publicy is alway a big help top reach more people.

Do you have any role models or idols? no

Why do you think that they exist? Some people need somebody to look up to, i dont know why

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? I am more into the older stuff, but thats because i myself are very old. hahahaha

What have been your biggest obstacles? I cant think of any

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Follow you own instinct, do what you think is good.

How do you get psyched for a gig? No not realy

Do you have any new material? As i mentioned before, we are entering the studio in november and hopefully the new album will be out first half of 2020

What are your web sites? https://www.facebook.com/lastdaysofhumanity/

How can people reach? Through that facebook page

What are your plans for the future? Record a new album, after that we dont know.

Do you have something to add? No not realy, thank you Robex fort he intrest in our band.
