intervju med K.A.Z

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes!  Filip, Jonathan and Oscar played in a band named "Vicious Trust"  untill they broke up in 2011 and Marcus and FIlip had a band named "Behind These Walls" till 2013 just before K.A.Z was founded.

What are your names? / Who plays what?

Oscar Berglund: Leadguitar, Backup vocals (temporarily leadvocals live)

FIlip German: Rhythmguitar, Backup vocals (temporarily leadvocals live)

Jonathan Karlsson: Bass

Marcus Gustafsson: Drums

Have you had other previous members?

Yes. When we founded K.A.Z we had a male-singer that left the band in 2015 and Louise Daun took his place as the singer.

Unfortunately Louise decided reacently that she also was departing from the band.

From February 2020 where looking for a new singer, in the meantime Oscar and Filip will do the vocals live.

Where are you from? We´re from the small town of Lidköping in Sweden

What year did the band form? In late 2013

What's your style of genre? Metal with some rockiness to the tune.

What inspires you? That we all love music and want to share that feeling everyone else

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? It would be awesome to have a great booking agency, it´s a lot of work to search for different places/festivals to perform.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We really haven´t given much thought about it, but of course in the long run it feels like thats what every band is looking for. If you get a good label it´s easier to put your entire mind to creating music.

What are your songs about?

In our album "Fighting For Life" thier about different situations people are going through for the most part.

Mostly difficult situations in peoples lifes that makes you think a lot.

How everyone is fighting for life.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Our talented guitarist Oscar Berglund does almost all of te music.

Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Oscar is usually in the shithouse when composing music, for an exampel the inspiration to In flames came after Oscar ate very spicy food.

Have you done any covers live? We have done a lot of covers actully but one song has stuck around woth us the most, it´s the song "Zombie" by "the Cranberries", Louise had such a great and deep voice that really fit well in that song.

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs?

In te beginin of K.A.Z we did some perfomances at a couple of youth creation centers where they were around 10 to 20 people maybe and sometimes in very big areas aswell so it felt very empty.

The most people that every attended to one of our shows where in 2016 in Gothenburg when we performed at Arena 29, they were´nt allowed to let in anymore people because it was full, 400 people saw us that show, it was completley amazing.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? It depends where we perform mostly, in a town like Uppsala where thay have a universaty it´s mostly a younger audience but in our hometown of Lidköping it´s often a great mixture of all ages.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary?

We have some songs we always play thats really great live and gets the crowd going,

Then we try to vary between some songs to keep the shows unique.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? No not really, if there would be some kind of place in Lidköping we sure would be playing there a lot, we do a lot of shows in lidköping but in different places all the time where they set up a stage temporarily.

What was your first gig like? It was actully pretty cool, the guys had all played together earlier in different projects so we all know what we where doing.

What was your latest gig?

It was at Crimzon Rock Night in Lidköping, our dear friend Mickael Holm has an agancey called "Crimzon Agency" that arrenged an event with 4 different bands that perfomed.

It was a really great evning with a lot of great bands.

Where have you played live this year? We started this year by playing at Backstage Rockbar in Trollhättan of sweden and then recently we performed at Crimzon Rock Nights in Lidköping.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We started to sell merchandise in 2019 , we have T-shirts, Tank Tops, Patches and soon some CD´s.

Where can people buy your merchandise?

They can either email us at [email protected] or write to our facebook page and we will ship the merchandise.

And of course thet can also buy merch at one of our shows.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days?

Now days it feels like a very unecessary process to do when most of the music is available for streaming on different platforms thats very easy to use.

Especially when sites like Youtube and Spotify is possible to use for free.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this?

People don´t think that music is worth any money and they don´t see all the work and effort that is behind all the creating and composing.

But from our perspective as a small band that very few people evev know exist we just want people to discover us and listen to our music. Right now if people listens to our music for free we´re just happy that they enjoy our work.

What do you think of my work? We all think it´s amazing and a great initiative from you to give so many bands the possibility to be heard. You make the soceity a better place for everyone who likes or compose music.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? We hope some people will be intrested in our music and how it´s made and hopefully support us as well by listening to our music.

Do you have any role models or idols? Some idols are the guys in Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine.
Why do you think that they exist? Their music have resonated with allot of people and they have been around for most of our younger years.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?
I think there is a nostalgia feeling with older bands, but I get pumped when I find a new band with awesome songs, gives me hope for the music industry. It’s very inspirational!
What have been your biggest obstacles? Well, our biggest obstacle was getting a full record made. But that was a fun obstacle. Otherwise it’s getting live gigs and all the admin work that goes in to have a band.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Just make music you love to make, regardless the genre. If you like to listen to it that should be enough, and play live as much as you can, get comfortable on stage!
Do you have any new material? We are writing some new stuff but nothing for the public yet. We have plans to record a single later this year.
