intervju med KREHATED

Have any of you played in other bands? All members have played in various bands and projects over the years.
What are your names? / Who plays what?
KREHATED 2019 is:
Johan Vrenning - Vocals
Jonas Vilander - Lead guitar, Vocals
Christofer Brown - Rhythm Guitar
Tobias Vrenning - Bass
Andreas Thunell - Drums
Have you had other previous members? All of KREHATED's founding members are still in the band.
Where are you from? Stockholm, Sweden.
What year did the band form?  2011.
What's your style of genre? We'd say metal, and let the listener put us in a category themselves.
What inspires you? Other music, each other, events around the globe.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We're always listening for interesting partnerships of any kinds. It's great that, with how the music industry looks today, you can go out there and find individual persons or companies that specifies in something that only a label could do years ago.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Wouldn't say looking, but as mentioned. We're always listening to interesting propositions and partnerships. The business idea of a label today is kind of un-modern with how the industry looks today. At the time, it seems better to partner up with independent people and companies instead (producer, mastering, artwork, promotion, booking etc).
What are your songs about? Everything from planetary crisis, global issues, personal tragedies to real life experiences.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? It usually starts with Jonas coming in with riffs and lyrics that him and Johan later polish and work on into a full song.
Do you compose in a certain environment? We have our own studio that we write, rehearse and record in. But some of us also have setups at home for tracking pre-prods and ideas in.
Have you done any covers live? We have played some over the years. The last I can remember being played live are "Killing In The Name Of" and "Roots Bloody Roots".
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Everywhere from 10 to a couple hundred people I'd say haha.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? It varies. But since we usually have played bars and 18+ places it's from that age up I guess.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We try to vary as much as possible, and always play new some stuff if we got some.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We used to play a lot at a place called "Copperfields". That place has unfortunately closed its doors this year so R.I.P. Copperfields.
What was your first gig like? It was great! Great crowd reaction and a decent amount of people. So, first song in, a drunk guy fell with his beer all over my pedalboard haha
Where was your latest gig at? It was at The Copperfields in Stockholm.
Where have you played live this year? Since we have dedicated this year (2019) to songwriting and personal matters we've not played any shows unfortunately. We plan to change that in 2020.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Nothing at the moment. But if people start really nagging on us, we might create some.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Well, since a pirated download never really does benefit the artist in any way it's that. But if those downloads help to generate a bigger buzz and spread of the band and it's music then it's great on the other hand! With Spotify, YouTube and all that available today I think downloads in general ain't the problem that it used to be.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? There's less money to make for sure. But there's also much easier to get your music out there without being signed to a label. With all the streaming services available, it's also much easier so get discovered than it was before. So I guess, good music will still get the coverage it deserves.
What do you think of my work? You seem to work a lot and WORK HARD. That is really what you need to do today, regardless on what type of business your engaging yourself in to become successful.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business?  Let's hope as many people as possible reads this someway, somehow!
Do you have any role models or idols? There's a lot of inspirators if I may put it that way. And not just musicians. Actors, writers friends and family too.
Why do you think that they exist? I guess their parents wanted to get intimate. Because of that, we're able to get inspirated and motivated by their offsprings.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Don't think so. We get inspired both by old and new. People that doesn't, might limit themselves. Both as composers and as a listener. There's so much good music out there!
What have been your biggest obstacles? Well, we've been through quite the few over the years. Especially our singer, Johan. For example, our song "Scum" is about how our singer got assaulted and had to be hospitalized for a week. "Elise" is about how our singer got his daughter taken away from him by his mother by no reason really so there's that. All these obstacles do make us stronger though and keep inspiring us composing music.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Never follow trends. Never make music cause you want to make money. If you finally do, you're lucky but that should never be why you start in the first place. Play music that you likes to listen to, music that inspires yourself. If you like what you create, there's a good chance someone else will like it too.
Do you have any new material? We do have two brand new tracks dropping in the very near future. Can't reveal more than that at the moment I'm afraid.
What are your web sites?
